May was a month of take one little step and go back 3. Edith quit talking much at all though she could still understand what we were saying. The best part of this month was one afternoon when I was telling Vanessa, Edith's friend and aide, that Edith had taught all of her boys to cook, sew, iron, clean house, etc. In fact, Jim was/is better at all of this than I am. Shocking us all, Edith quipped, "Well, what does he need you for?" The sweetest words we had heard!
Sometimes just enjoying the beauty of the yard with it's abundance of flowers and greenery, plus Jim's humor makes the day a brighter one. So, of course, when he pretended to eat Bonnie's food, I was there with my trusty camera.
Our church is getting a minor face lift inside the sanctuary which really opens up the front for the praise band to shine. Preparing for a dinner visit from Carolyn and Gene, keeps us vying for "best dessert" award. Unfortunately, Jim's trifle was more appealing than mine! And, of course, Jim & Gene had to display their plates, even though, now, Jim and I can't remember what we served.
Mother's Day week-end brought a visit from Leah and Ryan as well as pictures of Randi's prom night.
Finishing up Mother's Day week-end with church and dinner at Angela and Ladd's. Great time!
No matter how little Edith is able to talk and eat, having Leslie come fix her hair is a treat she enjoys!
And, of course, since we were in the "neighborhood" it seemed only right to stick around til school was out so we could meet up with Alexander, Abby, Heather, and Andy. To entertain ourselves while we waited, we ate out, shopped, and even took a short nap in the car until the kids came!

John, who is more like a grandfather to us than a neighbor, came over and saved our marriage today! Yes, he didn't know it; but, by coming over to help Jim put together a shed in the backyard, he made the day brighter for both of us! I was happy just to play photographer and water "girl."
The Lake Country Symphonic Band held their Spring concert on the 19th of May. TJ and some of her friends came to support Jim and other friends of theirs. And, to get myself in a pic, I used a store front window as a mirror! Desperate measures, my friends!
May the 20th was a difficult day for all of us. Jim, TJ, and I were scheduled to meet with Dottie, the Hospice nurse. Ernie got into town just in time to join us. The news wasn't surprising; but still difficult to hear. We are walking through the final days/weeks of Edith's life. Jim's dad's niece Janice and her daughter Tracy also came to see Edith.
