Day 6, Thursday, September 20
Yay!!! A late morning! We didn't sleep particularly late; but just to not have to hit the road was a real treat! This motel, The Rocket Inn, was another suggestion from Steve. He can certainly recommend quaint places anytime! Talk about a funky room. It was spotless, cozy, and very, very unique! We had 3 beds and no dresser or closet...so here's how we handled that. The first bed which was a twin is where all of our layer clothes were placed...coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, etc. We slept in the middle one, and the far one (as you can see) was our "dresser." It had our regular clothes, make up, shaving kit, etc. Jim did hang a couple of his jackets over the heater this particular day.

Day 7, Friday, September 21
Started the day off by walking to the laundromat across the street from our motel. Even while travelling, real life wanders in.
Now...Come ride with us on Taz to Mount Rushmore...Part 1
For us, walking onto the Mount Rushmore grounds is a sobering experience. It's as though you're meeting the Presidents for the first time. And, then you take time to soak up the atmosphere by enjoying lunch and an ice cream treat.
We spent so much time at Mount Rushmore that we had to hustle down the mountain back to Custer to get ready for our evening treat. We had found a "dinner" theatre of sorts (if you call having South Dakota hot dogs a dinner. lol) to attend. What fun!

Day 8, Saturday, September 22
We made an early, cold start to this day as we had lots of miles we wanted to travel to see the beauty of South Dakota. We thought we should take our readers on this hour and 15 minute trip to Deadwood in just a minute and 38 seconds. So hang on tight and ride with us!
