Barbara:
This journal entry
will be mainly collages of the wonderful week we had with grandchildren,
Alexander and Abby. It all started with a trip in Big V pointed in the
direction of Galveston, TX where we had reservations at the Jamaica Beach resort.
The first night, Sunday, we spent in
Terrell, TX, in a motel, as it was too late after church to stay in Big V.
The next day
we stopped several times to play, call Grandma Dondis for her birthday, and
have lunch with our friends Joyce and Gary.
After arriving at Jamaica Beach RV
Resort on Galveston Island and squaring away everything in Big V, everyone
donned their swim suits and headed for the beach!
We were impressed with just how “kid
friendly” this place is. Before hitting the pool, the kids had fun in the water
park which they could control with a timer.
.++++
Day 2 started with a photo scavenger hunt for Abby and Alexander. Each had
a list of things they were to take pictures of as they walked around the RV
park.

Alexander’s List:
Once the scavenger hunt was completed,
it was time to move on to what became our daily activities. This was definitely
not the time to worry about how one looked!
Abby did
choose to help the owner feed her alpacas while Alexander said, “No, thank
you!”

Miniature golf together, a slurpee,
and time with Joyce, Gary, and their grandsons Owen and Max made this day a
very full one!
Time for Water War:
First, we must fill up the cannons which are water balloons. Jim, Alexander, and Abby were declared the winners of this war as they are the only team that scored a direct hit which drenched the other team by unlocking the water surge box.
Such busy work, called for ice cream treats from the roving ice cream van before we hit the beach.
What a day! No one had trouble falling asleep this night; in fact, we all had difficulty staying up until it was late enough to go to bed!
+++++++
After
yesterday’s marathon, we all agreed that it was time to relax, do laundry, and
just chill as we needed to pack and be ready to leave the next day.
Saying
good-bye to Galveston and working on scrapbooks as we hit the road. The top
right picture shows how the wind blew a complete roll of paper towels around
Big V as we tootled down the interstate.

After spending our last night together
at an RV park in Terrell, we met Andy and Heather at the factory outlet mall to
reunite them with their children. Leah and Ryan also brought granddaughter
Randi to us as part of our family “exchange” program!
