Sunday, July 29 ....road trip 1
Since Jaycie had cheer practice early this afternoon, we had to leave Artesia by 8:30 NM time to meet Jim and Cat in Plains, TX to return their daughter. We picked up Edith and delivered her to church and headed out for the last leg of our visit with Jaycie.
Then it was back to Artesia to spend the rest of the day doing not much of anything.
Monday, July 30 ....road trip 2
Since Edith and TJ had decided to make the trip to Florida to be with Glennis while Raymond is in the hospital, Jim and I drove Edith to Breckenridge, TX, to meet TJ. This required a 6 hour trip over to Breckenridge where we had lunch with TJ and a friend Marge before transferring Edith and her luggage over to TJ’s car. Then Jim and I headed back to Artesia.
We did consider stopping for the night, but since the only motels between there and Artesia were either in Synder or Hobbs, we decided to stick it out and sleep in our own bed! And…a little over 14 hours from when we started out, we were back in Artesia.
Tuesday, July 31
Basically a recuperation day.
Wednesday, August 1
Another Chaos lunch with the Terpening clan. And a preparation to leave Artesia day. With Barbara and Warren’s wedding just around the corner now, it was time to get things around the “house” ready to move on over to Hobbs.
Thursday, August 2 ...road trip 3
We awoke this morning to the piddle patter of rain…okay, so it was more like the thump, thump of rain…When it appeared that the weather wasn’t going to get any drier, we made the executive decision to go on and get Big V over to the gravel. Since we’re now on a concrete pad (thank goodness!), the heading off wasn’t too bad, but we did leave some big ruts between the pad and the graveled driveways.
Jim was ecstatic to find that when he hitched the trailer to the motor home, the lights he had labored on so long worked! Then it was just a matter of raking through the ruts, going over to Edith’s to feed the dogs, and cleaning up before we left for Hobbs.
We joined Susie’s family and friends for supper that night over at the Francis home.
Friday, August 3
While I attended a lingerie and linen brunch for Barbara, Jim joined some of the men over at Susie’s house. Then we spent the afternoon helping to prepare the church and country club for the wedding/reception. Don’t know that we helped all that much, but we were moral support, if nothing else.
While the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner were occurring, we helped Jerry and Nancy feed other family and friends over at Susie’s.
Saturday, August 4
The big day has arrived! Jim and I once again headed out to the country club to see what we could do to help finish up decorating for tonight’s reception. Then there was a little time to shop browse before heading over to the Francis home for lunch.
After dropping Nancy and Becky off at their motel, we managed to find a little time to take a nap before dressing up and heading to the church. By 6:30 PM Barbara and Warren were pronounced man and wife in a lovely ceremony.
Next stop was the reception out at the Hobbs Country Club.

It’s been another good week for us and we hope that yours was also.
