A Little Request

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Last Wednesday, the 15th, when we went to Glorieta, we thought we were going to visit Nancy and Jesse, However, we now believe that God had even a more pressing reason for that trip. Let me explain…

After I got the camera out of the car so I could take photos of Jessie, John, and Lynn, I passed a couple who were discussing the fact that they had not brought a camera and wished they had. (Okay, so maybe I was eavesdropping! But, it was purely by “accident,” I thought). Anyway, I offered to take a photo of them and email it to them if they would jot down their address for me.

After getting their address and taking the photo, I didn’t think another thing about it until the next day or so when I downloaded the pictures. I had to dig around to find the card that they had put their email address on but I finally found it and sent the photos on.

End of the story, right? Wrong!

On Sunday we received an email thanking us for the photos but also requesting that we, and our church family, pray for their son who was facing surgery. Obviously, we agreed to do so, but we also asked for permission to share their letter to our journal friends and family.

On Monday, both of the Meltons wrote …Here is their plight and request.

I would ask that you and your church family pray forour son.

He will be 30 in Dec. and is married with 2 daughters3 & 1.
He has had ear problems for years. Due to theinfections a tumor has been found behind the ear drum and must beremoved.
It is very serious. His surgery will be Aug 23. At Baptist Hospital OKC.

His doctor is a godly man and is on medical missionsin Africa. He will return Aug 22.

A few years ago they could not do this surgery and it was fatal at this point. 17 years ago he had this same tumor,. It is impossible for him to hear. He does not have the eardrum or the three bones you must have to hear. But praise God he hears. This surgery usually takes the hearing.

We just trust God and Him alone. We want this to be a prayer request so God will be glorified for all He has done. Thank you and for those praying.

Then the permission notes came…

Yes, Barbara, by all means, You can enlist all to pray for Jeffrey. This Thur. 23 at 1 pm our time. About a 5 hour surgery. We leave this in God's hand for His glory and His testimony inall that happens. God Bless Kathy.,

Yes, Barbara, God will honor our faith in Him alone. God bless to all, Bro. Charles and Kathy Melton

One of our “missions” in our retirement has been to expand our horizons so that we can meet new people and be of assistance in any way possible. Several times that assistance has been in the form of joining in special prayers. During the past year, several of you have asked for prayer requests to be shared through the journal, and many others have joined and given support. At this time, we ask that you would join us and this family in prayers for healing for Jeffery, comfort for the family, and wisdom and skill for the medical team that will be performing the surgery.

Thanks to all of you, our extended family members, for joining in this special request.

In His love,

Jim and Barbara
