April 2020: A Special "Little" Month

 APRIL, 2020

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1 - THURSDAY, APRIL 30

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1

The end of March and the beginning of April blended together for us.  We decided on the 30th that we weren't going to be held prisoners of Covid in our own house.  We checked our options, found that the Lake Hawkins RV Park (which we dearly love) had space available for a few days, so we quickly brought Big V in from Our Little Lot at Holiday Villages, stocked it with necessities for a few days, and headed off to Hawkins, arriving around midnight.  We did a basic set-up for the night and settled in for a few days.  It seems from the collages that we had Taz on the mind, but unfortunately, Taz was resting at home.

Thursday, April 2

Happy 26th Anniversary to Us!!!

We had a two-fold purpose for being in Big V.  The most obvious was that we needed time away from home, and the other was that it was quickly approaching time to get her inspected so we could get the new registration for the next year.  We hung around Lake Hawkins until April 9, just enjoying walking, resting, looking for rocks, and playing nightly trumpet concerts, much to the delight of neighboring campers.

Lake Hawkins RV Park is part of the county park system and has a limit of ten days at a site.  We reached our limit on the 9th, and since we needed to get Big V inspected and checked out, we went back to Mineola, unloaded a few things, and then took Big V to the RV service center for a couple of days.  We also took advantage of this time to have a couple of appointments with our cardiologist in Tyler.  Luckily, we got good reports and went on our way with the admonition to behave ourselves.

Our time away from Lake Hawkins included visiting church friends, doing impromptu concerts., and celebrating Easter...

As we were making plans to return to Lake Hawkins, Mineola was hit by a massive storm that included a power outage in our neighborhood.  With  electricity projected to be out for several days, we had no choice but to go to Tractor Supply and buy a generator that would power our two refrigerators and the chest freezer...

We eventually got our power back after three days of roughing it and began working to restock Big V for another trip to Lake Hawkins, where we spent nine glorious days relaxing, walking, meeting new friends, and serenading our neighbors each evening at 6:00.

Oops...not inside Taz...but inside Big V, Taz's older cousin LOL

All good things must come to an end, so we pulled up stakes and came back to Mineola to unload Big V, move everything back to the house, and prepare Big V to return to Our Little Lot at Holiday Villages of Lake Fork.

The rest of the month was all about the business of regular life...doctor visits, another cancer surgery for Jim, yard work, house cleaning, paying bills, cooking, baking, grilling, visiting friends, and getting back into the routine of life in Mineola.
