March Comes With More than a Little Rain...

Tuesday, March 1 - Thursday, March 31

Tuesday, March 1

The rainy season is upon us...even though we had to get out for a doctor appointment in Tyler and prayer meeting in Yantis, we had plenty of time to finish up our income tax paperwork and spend time preparing the children's sermon for next Sunday.

March Comes with Rain, Rain, and More Rain...

Leslie made room for us in her busy schedule at Naturally Nails and gave us both new hair-dos, after which, we did some running around...

From the beauty shop to Autumn Wind and Addie...

Tonight we drove out to Yantis for praise band rehearsal.

Tuesday, March 8 - Friday, March 11

Rain and tornado warnings were the main events of this week, but we managed to spend time doing the "necessary" things of life (much easier when there isn't anything else to do).  On Thursday, we got out to drive around the county and see the water from all the rains, and on Friday we visited Addie, drove to the Patriot Guard Shack for some items we've been wanting, and then went on to Tyler to do a little shopping.

Saturday, March 12

With all the rain we've had so far, we were going stir crazy; so tonight, we decided to go riding around. On a whim, we parked at the Catholic Church parking lot, cranked up the DVD player, and let Jim direct to "Dances to Wolves" and then once more at home. To say we are weird might be an understatement!

Sunday Night Church on Taz and Taz Rides...

Monday, March 14

We had an awesome surprise today when we received a text from friends, Sonny and Carol, from San Antonio. They said they were going to be in Canton for the night and wanted us to join them for supper. However, Jim had a band rehearsal so instead we took Taz over to welcome them to East Texas.

What a joy it is to visit with them! God brought them into our lives at one of our lowest points. And, we've walked together gladly since then.

We made it back to Mineola just in time for a special rehearsal of the Lake Country Symphonic Band at the Historic Select Theater in Mineola.

Friday, March 18

Three weeks after leaving Big V at the Ford place for repairs, we finally stopped by there to see what was going on since they hadn't called. To our chagrin, we found that she had been sitting there unattended all that time since they couldn't check the computer and didn't have our phone number! Oops! Therefore, we took her to the Civic Center where we would pack up in a few days and take her to Olathe, KS, for the repairs.

While getting Big V situated, we heard commotion and realized that a Life Flight was making an emergency stop right behind us.

Friday Fun Bunch at the Clarks!

Saturday, March 19

We received a call from Leah today letting us know that Ryan's mother had been life-flighted to Wichita, Kansas, so we immediately started making plans to take Big V either through Wichita, or the most direct route to Olathe before heading to Larned, if necessary.

Sunday, March 20, 2016

It was a full day of musical activities as the Lake Country Symphonic Band presented their Marches, Movies, Musicals, and More concert after church today.

This is the day Jim has been waiting for ever since Mike told him that he would be one of the guest conductors. Since he got to choose his own piece to conduct, he had no trouble selecting his favorite, "Dances With Wolves!"

Monday, March 21-Wednesday, March 23

Today we started our journey to Olathe Ford RV in Olathe, KS. I must admit, we were quite apprehensive as the last time we took a trip in her, she would go maybe 2 hours and then she'd start to lug down. No one so far has been able to diagnose the problem. However, we made it to Coffeeville, KS, (without a hitch) where we spent the night.

We were even more pleased the next day when Big V made it safely to Olathe! After unhooking the car from the motor home, we met up with Whitney for a late lunch before going to the house to await time with Jimmy and Jim.

While we were spending time with the kids, Jim and Jimmy demonstrated some of the capabilities of their new 3-D printer and made me a new mouthpiece for my trumpet...

Supper was at a new (for us) pizza place in Olathe.  We love it when any of the kids take us out for new dining experiences!!!

Thursday, March 24, 2016

Leaving Olathe with snowflakes falling early this morning wasn't quite what we had in mind for spring weather. However, our son-in-law Ryan was facing difficult times and we needed to be in Larned, KS, to support him. His mother Kerri had died and her funeral would be held on Friday.

Leah and Kaiden came to the motel and we played a game of 99 before Kaiden hit the pool.

Saturday, March 26

After the funeral yesterday, we drove as far as McPherson, KS, for the night. This morning we made it to Olathe Ford and RV to check on Big V...unfortunately she is sicker than expected and won't be ready for a week. So, after a brunch visit at Cracker Barrel with Whitney, Jim and Jimmy, we traveled to Muskogee, OK, where we spent the evening. Since we couldn't find a church offering a sunrise service tomorrow, we decided to get up at the crack of dawn and make it to our own church for Easter services.

Sunday, March 27

Happy Easter, Everyone!!!

We made it to our 10:00 Easter service in Yantis before going to Angela and Ladd's for a family Easter dinner.

Monday, March 28-March 31, 2016

This week was full of preparations for our trip to Toccoa...Arrange doctor appointments, check on insurances, check on income tax, check on registration and sticker for Big V, get band music back to Liberal High School, schedule doctor appointments, mow and trim yard, prepare meals for the trip...Whew!!!

By the end of the day on Thursday, we were ready to rock and roll on a new adventure!
