Tuesday-Wednesday, September 1-2
Jim and I began this month in a little bit of a funk since we spent the first two days at home with no real purpose except cleaning house and taking care of home chores. Just not our perception of fun!
Thursday, September 3
We began the day by venturing out to Yantis to look for a new project at LuAnn's and Reed's place. We found just the perfect addition to the living room with the bottom photo. We also completed the top photo to use on the wall of the master bath...need a new prayer window there!
We wrapped up the morning by joining our friends at the Yantis Senior Center for lunch.
Friday, September 4
Finally! Friday arrived and we had LuAnn and Reed, and Diane & Jerry over for dinner. We are so blessed with our Friday night get-togethers!
Saturday-Tuesday, September 5-8
Between yard work for Jim, and daily household chores for me another four days flew by with nothing remarkable happening except our attempt at a late night ride to DQ or Sonic for something to do. We found that DQ closes at 10; so Jim's desire for a hot fudge sundae from there went by the wayside.
Wednesday, September 9
One of our special elderly ladies fell this AM and was taken to the ER at Quitman; so Jim and I rushed over there to check on her. We were certainly unprepared for the bruising to Jenny's face and legs that she received when she fell. We stayed with her until her sister, Claudine, could get there then we left.
Since my name patch for my vest was to be ready today, we jumped on Taz and headed to Tyler. While at the Guard Shack, Norma gave us some Snowball Express posters to display in Mineola and at church in Yantis.

This time (while in Tyler) we stopped by Red Lobster to buy some biscuits to put in the freezer. While we were there, we got to observe the delivery and waking up of the fresh lobsters. Interesting process!
Thursday, September 9A day filled with more household duties (yuck!), and a trip to the library and the Kindness Cottage to deliver some donations we found after all the cleaning. Have I mentioned that this is our least favorite thing to do? Oh, yes, I guess I have.
Friday, September 10
This Friday night, Mary joined our group for dinner and visiting...Yep, fun and smiles!
Saturday, September 11
We finished up the week with a Patriot Guard Rider mission in Winnsboro.
After the PGR mission, we went over to Lake Winnsboro to see our friends Pat and Joe. I met Pat at the Quitman rehab center after I had the heart stent put in. There's just a special bond when you meet others who have come through even more difficult heart issues than you. How blessed we are!
A really great end to the day came when we received a face time call from Mike and the kids! This face time is such a wonderful tool for getting to see your loved ones so far away!
Sunday, September 13
After attending church, Jim and I jumped on Taz and headed to Glen Rose, TX, where we were joining Diane and Jerry and their Texas Baptist Men team. This was a new volunteer adventure for us and we were pretty excited! We arrived in time for church with the group and then a trip to DQ with Jerry and Diane.
Monday-Wednesday, September 14-16
Jim enjoyed working with the men while I investigated the grounds of River Bend Retreat Center and took pictures in the mornings. In the afternoon, the women met for devotion and project time. At night we were free to roam and for Jim to practice his trumpet.

Happy 51st anniversary to friends, Jerry and Diane.
Another Friday night with friends! Love this routine!
Saturday, September 19
We were supposed to go to lunch with Heidi, who I haven't seen in ages; but...this old brain doesn't function like it used to. I was so wrapped up in cooking my meats, hamburger and chicken, for the freezer that I forgot. Heidi sent me this picture to show me what I missed! (She dressed up because she knew I'd have my camera.) I'm sorry, Heidi!!!!!
From a facebook post, we learned this afternoon that the War Room was still on in Sulphur Springs, so we checked with LuAnn and Reed to see if they'd like to attend with us. They did and afterwards, we made a stop at Braum's.
Sunday, September 20
Once again this was an attend church and then head out of town kind of day. This time we were going to Cleburne where our friend Claudine's son, Larry, was having a retirement reception. To prove what a small world this is, Larry was also the pastor to our daughter Leah and son-in-law Ryan. Therefore, Leah and Ryan met us at the church and we were able to have a short visit with them, too.
Monday, September 21
Since Jim's aunt from Florida is in town, we held a family dinner at the house. Our friend Addie couldn't attend so after the dinner, we went to Autumn Wind to check on her.
Thursday, September 22
We went out to church to get our SYAP shirts and Mary was working in the office.
Wednesday, September 23
One of our great enjoyments is to attend See You at the Pole each year. This year was no exception.
Followed by Saw You at the Pole and Praise Band practice.
Friday, September 25
Our last Friday night get-together for a while since we'll be leaving for Georgia at the end of the month. This time Charlie and his son Keith joined us.
Sunday, September 27
Sunday morning began with a wonderful special given by Jim followed by a fantastic sermon from Brother Craig.
What a fun way to end our Sunday! A Family Fun Night was held with games, music, laughter, and...oh, yes, food!
Monday-Tuesday, September 28-29
Frantic last minute chores and packing to prepare for our upcoming trip! Somehow it all got completed and we were able to hop on Taz after our haircuts on Tuesday and ride into the sunset. Life is good! Thank you, God!
