Just a Little Christmas Time

Sunday, December 1 - Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Sunday, December 1

We started off the month with two of our favorite activities...church and a PGR ride.

Monday, December 2

Jim and I liked the kitchen counter-tops so well, we decided to have Miracle Restoration give the bathroom a "little" cosmetic change, too. So, by 8:30 AM the transformation began.

Wednesday, December 4

Happy birthday, Susie!

Wednesday night church activities...

Thursday-Sunday, December 5-8

December, even after 3 years, is a difficult month. It was on this date in 2010 that we know my younger son, Jimmy Clint, died though he wasn't found until the 8th.

People can say that time heals, it's time to move on, don't think about it, etc., etc. etc. But...for a mother's heart none of this rings true. Yes, it's easier in some ways; but the memory is like a sore with a light scab and ever so often that scab gets peeled back and the pain is overwhelming once again. It's not that one sets out to remember or think...it just happens and one just has to live through it. That's what December is to me. I thoroughly enjoy my family, the Christmas season, the hustle and bustle; but, waiting in the wings is THE MEMORY.

I filled this day (the 5th) with cooking an enchilada casserole which we took portions of to our neighbors, John & Wanda, Addie, and Jim's aunt TJ. Then we wrapped gifts and cleaned house. I also cooked up 7 packages of hamburger and 3 of chicken to freeze for use at a later time. Have I mentioned that cooking and cleaning keeps ones mind free to think, but hands busy! Of course, don't get the wrong idea my part of housecleaning is minimum compared to Jim. He's a cleaning tornado and one that I appreciate immensely!

Jim's been busy baking loaves of bread that we share with family and friends during this time while I have branched out from just cinnamon hard candy to root beer rocks this year. Our kitchen is certainly the hub of our life in December.

Sunday night was the church Christmas Dinner.

I made a special "Things Jimmy Loved" collage to put on Jimmy Clint's facebook page.

I was sick with the stomach virus for a whole week so had some extra time so I made a "gift" for Jimmy. The first block is the gift wrapped, then the unwrapping begins and then the final frame shows the gift, a picture of Jaycie and her boyfriend, Keaton.

I was unable to go to a lunch that our neighbor Addie invited us to, but Jim went.

We thought I was finished with the stomach virus so we went out to church on the 14th to take pictures of our drive-thru nativity.
However, that night we found that I was not well and was not able to attend Jim's Christmas Lake Country Symphonic Band concert on Sunday the 15th. I did, though, get some good pictures of him before he left the house.

And...a professional took a photo of the entire band.

 Monday-Friday, December 16-20

What a week...one I just want to forget!

Happy anniversary to Leah Renee' and Ryan!

We finished out the month with a PGR ride in Emory, a night with friends Gene & Carolyn, and dinner with Angela & Ladd and the kids on New Year's Eve. Special guest that day was Lisa, girlfriend of Logan's.
